Better Driving Habbits for fuel saving?  

·         o   Drive between 45-55 km/h.

o   Drive slow and steady. The faster you go, the more the wind resistance your vehicle will face. It has been established by trials that you can get upto 40% extra mileage at 40 km/h as compared to 80 km/h.

o   Avoid accelerating or decelerating unnecessarily.

Always Drive In The Correct Gear.

·         o   Incorrect gear shifting can lead to as much as 20% increase in fuel consumption.

o   Remember : For city driving, change to a higher gear when you are sure that the engine

    will not have to struggle.

o   Get into top gear as soon as possible.

While Breaking, Anticipate stops.

·          o   Stop-and-go driving wastes fuel. When you slam on the brakes, a lot of useful energy is           wasted in the form of heat.

o   Proper synchronization of gear and accelerator is necessary for better mileage.

o   Remember: check wheels for free rotation when your car is being serviced. Binding brakes

    restrict free wheel movement and the engine consumes more petrol in order to overcome

    resistance.

Keep Your Foot off the clutch.

·         o   Use your clutch only when you change gears. Riding the clutch causes loss of energy and

           damages clutch lining.

o   Remember: Use your hand brakes when stopping on up gradient. Don't manipulate the

    clutch and accelerator while stationary because it wastes fuel, even if the car you are

o   Instead, drive in low gear till the engine warms up.

    all the time.

o   Remember: A reduction of weight by about 50 kg can lead to a 2% saving in fuel, when

    driving in city.

Check your tyre pressure regularly.

o   Under inflated tyres increase rolling resistance, leading to higher petrol consumption and

    faster wear out of tyres at sides.

o   Remember: A 25% decrease in tyre pressure can cost you 5 -10% more on petrol and 25%

    on tyre life.

When you stop your car, stop your Engine

o   Idling for an hour costs one litre of petrol - Always keep your car ready for starting

    quickly. Keep the battery, alternator and fan belt in good condition. This will ensure a

    good start whenever you need it.

o   Remember: Switch off the engine at stops of over 2 minutes.

Plan Your Route.

o   Fuel consumption on a highly congested road can be double the normal.

o   Rush hour or stop-and-go traffic can waste fuel excessively.

o   Remember: You will get more mileage from each litre if you take a less congested route.

How to make a free blog cum website with blogger?

         Hi, Guys, am super excited as I am writing my first post. Well, I would dedicate this first post to my friends who want to know how to build a free website. I will explain you in a step-wise manner.

Things You Need Before Starting: 

• A Gmail Account
• A Clear Idea on which you want to make the website
• Pen down the categories of your ideas.

Say, for e.g you want to create a website on “Price of mobiles in India”.

Step 1: Go to Blogger.com and sign in with your gmail id. If you haven’t created yourblogger account until now and signing in for the first time then you will be asked to Confirm your profile where you need to choose between “Create Google + Profile” and “Limited Blogger Profile”. We click on limited blogger profile and choose a display name and click on continue to blogger.

Step 2: Now click on ‘New Blog’ on the upper right side. Now select name of your blog and choose blog url, as in our e.g case I have selected “Price of mobile in India” as blog title and “price-of-mobile.blogspot.com” as url and select a good template from the given choices as shown in the screenshot below.

Woohoo.. Your Blog cum website has been created. You can check that be opening the url.

Step 3: Now you need to set up settings of your site. Click on the name of your site and then click on ‘Settings’ on the left side. In the ‘Basic Settings’, enter the description of your site by clicking on Edit in the ‘Description box’ and click on Save changes as shown in the screenshot.

Similarly in ‘Posts and Comments’ section, select ‘anyone’ in ‘Who can comment?’ option. And in ‘Comment Moderation’ select ‘Always’, it implies that the comment by anyone on your site will not be visible until you approve it. It is necessary as some people can use abusive language or just keep their website link on your blog. Enter your email in ‘Email moderation requests to’ field. And Click on ‘Save Settings’.

Step 4: Go to ‘Language and Formatting’ section. In the ‘Time Zone’ select ‘(GMT +05:30) Indian Standard Time’ for Indian users. And click on ‘Save Settings’.

I would recommend the new users to not edit the Search Preferences section as it decides how google crawls your site.

Step 5: You can select different ‘Templates’ and change the html code of the present template from Templates section.

Step 6: Click on ‘Layout’ section. Here you can add many gadgets like ‘Popular Posts’ or ‘Blog Archive’ etc. You can try different gadgets. For adding the Ad codes or websites tracking code like HiStats, you need to select ‘HTML/Javascript’ gadget after clicking ‘Add a gadget’ in Layout section.

I would recommend HiStats.com for monitoring the visits of your website.

Step 7: Now about the main content of the site, your content would go in Posts and Pages Section. Click on New Posts. Now give the title to Post and your contents in the compose section. You can also add labels which serve as categories, for e.g In mobile website labels would be the name of the companies like Nokia, Samsung etc. The ‘Permalink’ field decides the url of your site. Give a proper url as it can affect the ranking of your site.

When you are done, click on Publish. Similarly you can publish page too and your free website is ready.

You can customize you website with gadgets like Facebook like box, twitter follow, Navigational menu etc which would make your website look beautiful. I would follow-up with different posts on them too.

How to hide files and folders securely using Command Prompt?

You may want to hide some of your private files and folders from friends or parents, it is easily done using softwares like Folder Lock. But if you want to do it without using any kind of softwares then you can use Command Prompt. Let us do it step by step, for e.g I want to hide Movies folder on my pc.

Hide Folders: Step by Step Procedure

Step 1: Click on ‘Start->Run’ or Press ‘Windows Button + R’.

Step 2: Now enter ‘cmd’ in it. And Press OK to open Command Prompt window.

Step 3: Enter the path to your file or folder which you want to hide. As it can be seen by default the command prompt window shows ‘C:\Users\home’ in Windows 7. In our case it is ‘E:\Movies’ which we want to hide, so first we enter the drive it is located as ‘E:’ .

Step 4: You can view the directory and sub-directories entering ‘dir’ command.

Step 5: Now final step to hide the file, enter ‘attrib +s +h’ followed by the name of your folder or files and press enter, in our e.g the final code to enter is ‘attrib +s +h Movies’ and it is done.

Understanding the codes used:

• attrib : It changes the attributes of the file or folder.
• dir : It displays files and folders in the directory.
• attrib +s +h : It adds System and Hidden attribute to the file or folder.

Only ‘+h’ attribute is enough to hide a file/folder but that file would be visible when ‘Show Hidden files folders and drives’ option is checked in Tools->Folder Options in My Computer. ‘+s’ adds system attribute so even if the above mentioned option is checked your file would still not be seen.

However you can view your folder/file by directly typing the address of file in address bar in My Computer; In our e.g it is ‘E:\Movies’, typing it in address bar would show me its contents.

How to Unhide Files/Folders:

Enter ‘attrib -s -h’ followed by file/folder name and enter, so in our e.g it would be ‘attrib -s -h Movies’.
